About Ronald Bowles
Ron was born and raised in Hancock County Indiana on wooded land near Sugar Creek. He studied painting at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana, where he also majored in Commercial Art and Advertising with a focus on commercial illustration. He currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana where he maintains a small studio.
Ron is a member of the Midwest Art Colony in Nashville, Indiana and the Indiana Plien Air Painters Association. He attends several Paint Outs a year and often paints on site in Nashville and other scenic locations. Ron works in the mediums of oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors and pen and ink.
His work includes historic architecture and town retrospectives, as well as impressionist studies. He enjoys Plein Air painting and is working on a series of paintings that will center around the historic architecture and scenes of urban life in Bloomington.
